Spider-Man: Brand New Day Continues To Dominate Box Office
Spider-Man just keeps swinging past every record in his way. The latest movie, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, has continued sitting at the number one spot at the box office for weeks in a row now, and the numbers keep getting more impressive.
The movie already crossed $2 billion worldwide within just three weeks of release, which is a massive milestone that very few movies ever hit. On top of that, it also became the seventh movie ever to cross $700 million just at the domestic box office, putting it in some pretty exclusive company.
What’s really wild is how strong its weekday numbers have been too. Just recently, the film pulled in a huge Tuesday performance, becoming the biggest Tuesday in domestic box office history for any movie. That pushed its total domestic earnings past $449 million, making it the second highest-earning movie of the year so far in the US, just behind Toy Story 5.
Even with newer movies opening around it, nothing so far has been able to knock Spider-Man off the top spot. Analysts say a big part of its success comes down to strong word-of-mouth from fans and steady turnout in IMAX theaters, which usually means people are genuinely enjoying the movie enough to recommend it to others.
With numbers like this, it looks like Spider-Man: Brand New Day still has plenty of room left to climb before it’s done in theaters.
