Awarapan 2 Enters 100-Crore Club, Box Office Triumph
Emraan Hashmi’s comeback in Awarapan 2 is turning out to be one of the biggest hits of his career.
Moreover, the numbers keep proving it.
The film has now officially crossed the 100 crore mark in India.
Additionally, it is one of the standout box office successes of the year so far.
For anyone not familiar, Awarapan 2 is a sequel to the popular 2007 film, with Emraan Hashmi returning to his role as Shivam Pandit. The movie also stars Disha Patani, along with veteran actress Shabana Azmi, Shriya Saran, and a solid supporting cast. It’s directed by Nitin Kakkar and produced under the Vishesh Films banner.
The film opened strong, earning close to 22 crore net on its first day.
Awarapan went on to record the biggest opening day of Emraan Hashmi’s career.
Momentum then continued, instead of slowing down, a rarity for many Bollywood films today.
By the time it wrapped up its second weekend, Awarapan 2 had already crossed 142 crore net. It officially beat another 2026 release, Welcome To The Jungle, to become the fifth highest-grossing Hindi film of the year. This achievement occurred in India.
Considering the movie was made on a budget of around 45 crore, that means it has already earned back more than three times what it cost to make. This places it firmly in blockbuster territory. Its strong performance signals continued support for Awarapan from audiences and exhibitors alike.
Critics have been fairly positive about the film too, especially praising Emraan Hashmi’s performance as Shivam, saying he brings back a lot of the emotional depth fans loved from the original movie, while still delivering solid action sequences that appeal to newer audiences.
Trade experts say Awarapan could push past 150 crore net in India.
This would occur before its theatrical run ends, aided by strong word-of-mouth.
Moreover, some industry insiders have started asking whether a third part could be on the cards. Given how well this sequel has performed.
For Bollywood as an industry, this kind of result is a good sign, especially after a mixed year at the box office overall. It shows that solid storytelling paired with a familiar, beloved character can still pull in massive audiences, even years after the original film first came out.
